After the NES Classic released last year to massive demand and a surprisingly small supply, fans have been anxious to secure their shot at picking up an SNES Classic when it launches later this year. Thankfully, North American gamers should be getting that opportunity relatively soon.
Following an incident in which Walmart briefly opened preorders only to have to cancel them shortly afterwards, Nintendo has released a statement on what to expect and when. Nintendo has confirmed preorders should start opening up among various retailers later this month. Furthermore, they also expressed their intent to have a large supply of units above and beyond the preorders available for purchase when the system launches.
The SNES Classic launches on September 29 for $79.99. Hopefully these the system won’t create as much of a headache for gamers as its predecessor.
