And somehow, Robotnik returned. Not unlike the Emperor himself, Dr. Eggman will have apparently escaped his seeming demise at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to return for another shot at taking down the Blue Blur in their next film. Jim Carrey is reported by Variety to be reprising his role as the villainous doctor for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, much to the delight of fans.
Alongside word of the actor’s return, the official Sonic the Hedgehog film account on X released a 20-second stinger showing off the movie’s logo:

Did you catch that familiar, villainous laugh at the end of the teaser? That indeed sounds a lot like Carrey, and if he’s going to be potentially teaming with Shadow this time around, Sonic is going to have a lot on his plate. Carrey has been talking in recent times of retiring from acting, but if nothing else it looks like he’ll at least be back for one last go as Sonic’s archenemy.
