Since its release in 2014, Shovel Knight has grown into one of the most successful and recognized indie titles ever released. Aside from making a great game to kick things off, developer Yacht Club has supported its growing fandom with crossover appearances in other games, a plethora of merchandising including an Amiibo, and of course several updates and expansions to the game. Next up is an art book entitled Shovel Knight: Official Design Works.
A listing for the book has appeared on Amazon and promises “key art, character concepts, enemy designs, sprite sheets, unused ideas, and an all-new Shovel Knight tribute art gallery.” Interviews with the developers and commentary from the game’s artist will also be included.
The listing says the book will be released on August 29, 2017 for $39.99 and is being published by Udon Entertainment. While Udon did announce plans to release a Shovel Knight art book back in 2015, neither it nor Yacht Club has actually released an official statement verifying these details. However, it is unlikely this Amazon listing came from nowhere, so hopefully an official announcement will be released soon.
