While Pokémon fans eagerly await the November release of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, The Pokémon Company is teasing a brand-new announcement, coming next week. No further details have been given, other than the fact that the “shocking” project will be revealed on August 26, and it will stream on the website Niconico.
Given the specific word choice, one has to wonder whether or not we’ll be getting more info on the Pikachu-centric title revealed last October. Fans might recall that The Pokémon Company teased a Nintendo 3DS game featuring the electric mouse in a detective role. It’s also possible that we may finally get confirmation of the long-rumored Pokkén Fighters title, as well. The Pokémon Company trademarked that particular name in the US and Japan in August of 2013, and in Europe in May of 2014. Since then, fans have speculated about the possibility of a Wii U game focusing on fighting type Pokémon. While it would be nice to see both or either of these games detailed, it’s entirely possible that the news could be related to the anime or trading card game, and not a video game at all! Until next week’s stream, it’s all just speculation.
