SNK has been on a tear the past few years. The classic Japanese video game company has been a mainstay of the industry for decades now, both as a hardware manufacturer and as a software developer. More recently, though, SNK has been working to churn out a number of its games as digital offerings via the Nintendo eShop as well as in the astounding compilation SNK 40th Anniversary Collection.
SNK isn’t done just yet, however, as the company is primed to launch a new version of its NEO GEO Mini. This iteration of the retro console (which we detailed here) has a Samurai Shodown theme and will come in three translucent differently colored variants (limited to 20,000 units apiece). Every bundle comes with the console, two controllers, an HDMI and USB cable, character stickers, and special character cards. Give them a look:
- Aggressors of Dark Kombat
- Alpha Mission II
- Art of Fighting
- Blazing Star
- Blue’s Journey
- Burning Fight
- Cyber-Lip
- Fatal Fury: King of Fighters
- Fatal Fury 2
- Garou: Mark of the Wolves
- The King of Fighters ’97
- The King of Fighters ’98
- The King of Fighters ’99
- King of the Monsters 2
- Kizuna Encounter
- The Last Blade 2
- League Bowling
- Magician Lord
- Metal Slug
- Metal Slug 2
- Metal Slug 3
- Ninja Commando
- Ninja Master’s: Haou Ninpou Chou
- Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
- Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers
- Robo Army
- Samurai Shodown (1993)
- Samurai Shodown II
- Samurai Shodown III: Blades of Blood
- Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge
- Samurai Shodown V
- Samurai Shodown V Special
- Sengoku 3
- Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad
- Soccer Brawl
- Super Sidekicks
- Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
- Top Player’s Golf
- Twinkle Star Sprites
- World Heroes Perfect
The Samurai Shodown focus here is due to the new game that is coming to Switch some time in quarter four of this year (peep the trailer above). SNK is thus doing its best to build hype with these new NEO GEO Minis. The consoles will launch in Japan on June 27, but there’s no word yet of them coming to the west. Still, importing is always an option!
