Despite getting the Spyro Reignited Trilogy back in 2018, which was a remastered collection of the original trilogy, we have not seen a new game in this franchise since 2008s The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. After 15 years, we may have gotten a sign that a brand new title will be releasing soon!
The rumor was posted in a thread by Redditor sleepytruffle, and the information they shared is from an individual named Nicholas Kole, who worked on Spyro: Reignited Trilogy as well as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Here is the thread with a link to Kole’s personal website where he shared the rumor.
As for game play, the rumor claims there is “no RPG fighting like LoS series.”Also, Spyro and Cynder will both be playable characters but will not meet in game despite allegedly having connected stories. The rumor also mentions the following characters who will be returning are Elora, Hunter, Moneybags, Professor, Ripto, Crush, and Gulp. As for now, that’s as much as the rumor says.
Spyro 4: Mystery of the Dragon is set to be announced sometime this month, with a Q4 2024 release date, which would be sometime between October 2024 and December 2024. Now the game is said to be announced only for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S but the Reignited Trilogy was released for Switch so we may see this title release for the Switch predecessor, if and when it gets announced.
