SEGA Announces Captain America: Super Soldier

“Videogame players the world over can now become Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Captain America,” announced Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA America. SEGA officially announced the new title for multiple platforms including the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3,  Nintendo DS, and Sony PlayStation Portable. Not too many details are known at the moment but the game is confirmed to take place during World War II.The game will be penned by Christos Gage, the writer of the Avengers: The Initiative comic book series. The game is also unrelated to the upcoming film Captain America: The First Avenger. Currently, the game is slated for release sometime in 2011.

Electronic Arts Claims FIFA 11 to be Fastest-Selling Sports Game Ever

Released around the world only about a week ago, video game publisher Electronic Arts made the bold statement today that FIFA 11 has surpassed FIFA 10 to become the fastest-selling sports game of all time. Based on internal numbers, the game has sold 2.6 million copies and has grossed at retail more than $150 million. According to Peter Moore, President of EA Sports: “This is a landmark achievement for EA Sports – we’ve shattered sales records at retail, critics are praising FIFA 11 as being one of the most authentic and innovative titles ever, and fans are connecting and competing with other gamers around the world and have logged a record number of online connected game sessions.”

NBA Jam Introduces Playable Political Personalities

The original NBA Jam, released in 1993, was a pop culture phenomenon inventing catch phrases such as “Boomshakalaka!” and introducing then President Bill Clinton as a playable character. The update to NBA Jam, released for the Wii today, features several famous political figures including President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Senator John McCain, Former President George W. Bush, Former President Bill Clinton, Former Vice President Dick Cheney, Former Vice President Al Gore and Former Governor Sarah Palin. The game also includes several other unlockable secret personalities including ESPN‘s Colin Cowherd and Michelle Beadle, and the Beastie Boys.
