Violent Video Games can Dull Pain
Keele University in the UK has revealed the results of a study that suggests players of violent video games have a higher pain threshold than those who don’t.
Subjects were first given one of two games to play, either a golf sim or an FPS. Afterward, they had to place their hands in freezing water. On average, those who played the violent FPS were able to keep their hands submerged 65% longer than the virtual golfers.
Violent games naturally leaves the gamer in an agitated state, with the heart beating faster and adrenaline kicking in, just as real world conflict would. Altogether this raises the subject’s tolerance for pain as well as their overall aggression.

European Nintendo Direct Announced for Thursday
Nintendo of America already announced plans for a Nintendo Direct on Thursday, September 13, an event that will most likely contain launch details for Wii U. Now Nintendo of Europe has confirmed its own event that will begin simultaneously, 10am EST time for our American readers, or 3pm for all those across the pond.
Furthermore, the announcement specifically states Wii U will launch in Europe “this holiday season,” which should hopefully lay to rest the fears that the system wouldn’t see European shore until sometime later in 2013.
