Sony Congratulates 3DS, Reassures Vita is Still Better

Sony’s Playstation Vita has been struggling throughout its short life, showing up far below its competitors, and even predecessor, on Japanese sales charts. However, Sony has actually found the bright side to 3DS’ recent success. 3DS also struggled out of the gate, but really took off over the holidays with the release of numerous major titles.

Sony Computer Entertainment International’s head honcho, Andrew House, actually said the following, “Normally we don’t really reference the competition a lot when we talk about the PlayStation business, but in this case it’s perhaps a little salutary that sales of the 3DS, having the advantage of releasing a little bit ahead of us, have been exceedingly good. I think that shows that there is, in general, a lot of demand for a ‘gaming-primary’ device, which is how I would describe Vita, but our device in contrast has just so much more to offer.”

House of course had to throw in the bit about Vita having “so much more to offer”, but at the very least it is interesting to see 3DS’s biggest competitor congratulating Nintendo for effectively proving to the world that $1.00 smart phone and tablet games have not killed off the market for the substantially bigger and more expensive experiences offered by dedicated gaming devices.

Resident Evil: Revelations Demo Added to eShop

Those who keep up to the minute on 3DS eShop are probably already aware of this, but the demo for Resident Evil: Revelations is now available for download.

Not only is this news exciting for the fact that you can now try one of the system’s most anticipated games early, but it also marks another major step forward for Nintendo – offering demos major retail releases prior to the game shipping.

Early reviews for Resident Evil: Revelations have been overwhelmingly positive, but if you are still on the fence then give the demo a try.

New Nintendo Show 3D Episodes in the Works

Fans of Nintendo PR propaganda rejoice! Nintendo Show 3D hasn’t received many updates recently, leaving some to question where it had gone and if it would return. Apparently at least one fan took these concerns to Twitter because the social networking gods have heard the prayers and answered.

In a recent response, Jessi Cantrell, one of the shows hosts, simply stated “Yep! Shooting today.” However there is no word regarding when to expect these new episodes.

Renegade Kid Readies Mutant Mudds for Next Week

Lastly, the latest game from Renegade Kid, the DS developer best known for the FPS survival horror Dementium series will be releasing their latest game, Mutant Mudds on eShop next week, January 26.

Mutant Mudds looks to be a significant departure for the developer. While the Dementium games where known for being tense, atmospheric, and really pushed Nintendo DS’s processing power, Mutant Mudds is a rather whimsical looking, sprite based side scroller with shooting and platforming mechanics. Regardless, Renegade Kid has a proven track record so this title, at the very least, is worth keeping an eye on.

Ok, i just checked the demo,

    1. Its too short, like 6 minutes.
    2. The graphics are good, but with the full 3d some textures and characters look blurry.
    3. The gameplay is fun, its faster than other RE, the menu on the bottom screen is very nice and is easy to navigate .
4.the ship looks a lot like the mansion wich is cool.

I’ll wait for the reviews, if it gets 9 or more ill definetely buy it.

im a little dissapointed you only get 30 plays of it, granted i probably wont play the demo 30 times but still limiting a demo seems a little cheap…. hopefully capcom can release the mega man legends 3 demo they were supposed to forever ago. I know the games not coming out so at least they can give us the demo. lol

The 30-play cap rubs me the wrong way too, but I have to admit the Resident Evil demo did its job for me. I was curious about the game, and am now sold on it. It feels like RE4, updated but not turned into a generic action game (cough5cough). The demo is short but sweet. You can dodge through it in a couple of minutes or take an hour and really explore everything, including some tantalizing out-of-reach scans…

Does anyone else get serious Metroid Prime Hunters flashbacks from the demo’s menus and sound effects? I may even be thinking of First Hunt, which was itself a demo…
