Rocket League has been one of gaming’s biggest, most surprising hits of the last few years. Developer Psyonix started with an easy-to-learn but difficult to master game about playing a ridiculous take on soccer with rocket-powered RC cars and then continued to grow it through a combination of frequent updates and being incredibly supportive of its devoted community. The title has found a following on several consoles and PC, but unfortunately it has yet to find its way to a Nintendo platform.
“Just like all the other platforms, we are evaluating it,” Psyonix VP Jeremy Dunham said in a recent interview with IGN. “We’re looking to see what the technical requirements are. We’re looking to see what kind of true community demand there is… It’s definitely too early to say that it wouldn’t happen, but it’s also definitely too early to say that it would.”
In other words, Rocket League for Switch very much remains up in the air right now. On the one hand, Switch lacks the sheer processing power of competing consoles, but I can’t help but imagine at least a few fans will appreciate the option to take the game on the go. Hopefully Psyonix will finish its evaluation sooner rather than later and bring the game over to Switch.
