Playtonic’s upcoming 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee grabbed the gaming world’s attention not just for looking like a well-made love letter to a long dormant genre, but because it was being made by the former Rare developers who pretty much defined the golden age for that genre. With the game’s April release growing ever closer, many gamers and collectors might be excited to hear that the game’s soundtrack is now available for preorder through Laced Records.
Of course, it’s also worth mentioning the soundtrack features compositions from Grant Kirkhope, David Wise, and Steve Burke, all of whom have also worked on many of Rare’s celebrated platformers, including titles in the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong franchises. Also, in keeping with the retro-inspired nature of the game, the soundtrack will be available on vinyl alongside CD and digital download.
The soundtrack will be released on April 7 while most versions of the game will release on April 11. Unfortunately, the Switch version will be released at a later, currently unknown date.
