Back in the day, glitches in video games could be exploited and abused by some players, but publishers couldn’t do much about them. In the modern era, however, patches allow publishers the opportunity to fix those types of issues as they crop up after the game has already been released. Pokkén Tournament may have just arrived on Wii U a couple of weeks ago, but it didn’t take long for players to discover a glitch that made the game notably uneven.
The glitch in question allows Shadow Mewtwo to perform unlimited combos, rendering players that know how to exploit the glitch nearly unbeatable. Pokkén Tournament version 1.2, which will release soon, will fix the problem, as well as a handful of other small issues with the game. A glitch with the support Pokémon Reshiram will also be fixed by the patch.
It’s certainly promising to see Nintendo and Namco placing importance on keeping Pokkén Tournament’s gameplay polished. It will likely go a long way towards the game’s success on the fighting game tournament circuit. There is not a current release date planned for the patch, but it should be arriving in the very near future.
