Fans finally got a decent look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A in the Pokémon Presents showcase from back in February of this year, but the question still remained as to when the game would be launching. Well, it’s finally time to pull out your calendars and mark the date, as The Pokémon Company International has peeled back the curtain on the game’s launch date: it is Thursday, October 16, 2025. The company shared the news via its official X account:
#PokemonLegendsZA arrives October 16, 2025!
In addition to the #NintendoSwitch title, a #NintendoSwitch2 Edition will offer improved graphics and frame rates! The digital and physical versions of #PokemonLegendsZA can be upgraded to the #NintendoSwitch2 Edition via upgrade pack pic.twitter.com/DqAcfYPxiK

You’ll be able to begin pre-ordering the game from the eShop starting June 5, 2025. Besides the release date for the game, The Pokémon Company also showed off the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The game will run better and look better on Switch 2 compared to the original, likely making it the platform of choice to play the game on. For those who end up buying the Switch 1 version, they’ll have the opportunity to buy an upgrade pack at a later time.
Before we go, here’s a look at the box art for both versions:
