NPD Sales reports for February 2016 are in, and Nintendo had some titles that performed notably well last month. Fire Emblem Fates marks a peak for the series. The two versions of the new entry in the strategy franchise, Birthright and Conquest, sold just under 400,000 units (physical and digital) in the 10 days the games were out in February. This number is more than triple the amount of first month sales for Fire Emblem Awakening back in 2013. Sales momentum is expected to continue with another version of the game launching on eShop, Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation.
Fire Emblem isn’t the only series with record breaking sales last month. Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Version launched on the 3DS Virtual Console on February 27, and together the games broke the record for first week eShop sales. The NPD report did not reveal exact sales figures for the games, but did note they quickly shot to the top of sales charts. The record was previously held by 2014’s Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
These sales are strong testaments to the popularity of both franchises on Nintendo 3DS. Sales for Fire Emblem Fates are projected to continue at a steady pace as DLC continues to be released to keep players engaged. And hopefully, the success of the Gen I Pokémon games on Virtual Console will encourage Nintendo to continue releasing Virtual Console games with added features. (Gold, Silver, and Crystal please?)

I enjoyed the flash-back; however a remake of Red/Blue/Yellow would be excellent. Perhaps a remake of the first couple of seasons of Pokemon in a game would be plausible.
It would be a little unusual to remake the same games twice. ;)
