A while back, some intrepid entrepreneurs came up with a rather novel idea for touring the streets of Tokyo: putting on the costume of a Mario character and riding around on a go-kart. Naturally, the company faced some legal challenges from Nintendo and had to distance their branding from the famous game company, but their success at least showed more than a few people were interested in seeing Japan’s capital city with a Mario Kart twist. Well, it looks like gamers are going to get the closest thing to that experience, at least in an officially sanctioned way.
According to the official Twitter account for Mario Kart Tour, the mobile game will soon be updated with new courses as part of the Tokyo Tour update. You’ll of course be receiving some new courses themed around the megalopolis, but the update is promising some tracks from previous games as well. New characters are also part of the update, though we don’t know who quite yet.
A new tour is coming to #MarioKartTour!
"Tokyo Tour" starts at 11pm on October 8th (PT), with additional new and nostalgic courses.
