A new, Kickstarter-funded throwback title is headed to a Nintendo system. The game, entitled Pankapu: The Dreamkeeper, is an episodic 2D action-platformer with a story influenced by games like Final Fantasy.
Initially, it looked like Nintendo fans would be left out on the title. A release for Nintendo’s console was listed as a stretch goal, but the game did not reach that amount during the campaign. Luckily, developer Too Kind Studio received enough PayPal donations after the Kickstarter campaign ended to fund a Nintendo version. Apparently, a Vita version also received popular support, but couldn’t amass the necessary funds.
If the wording of the announcement seems a bit vague, there’s a reason for that: Too Kind Studio has announced that the title will land on Nintendo’s console, but has admitted that it could end up on either Wii U or NX. The game is slated for release in early 2017, so it will likely depend on whether or not the NX releases by the end of 2016.
Nintendojo will have more information on Pankapu: The Dreamkeeper in the coming months! In the meantime, let us know what you think of the title in the comments below!
