Gamers around the world were excited to learn that Nintendo would be releasing the first generation of Pokémon games on 3DS, and then everybody outside of Japan became jealous because Japan was getting bundles including retro styled packaging resembling the games’ original box art. Thankfully Nintendo has given us reason to put aside that jealousy, because North Americans and Europeans will have their unique ways to experience Pokémon’s past.
In North America, a single bundle will be made available including a New 3DS, two custom face plates, a Home menu theme, and both Pokémon Red and Blue will come pre-installed. The face plates feature the same artwork of Charizard and Blastoise from the respective box arts of the original releases, so you will easily be able to advertise which version you’re playing.
Like Japan, Europe will be getting color-coordinated bundles for Red, Blue, and Yellow that come with matching 2DS consoles. Also included is a Home menu theme and a collection of stickers so you can mark even more things with your love for Pokémon. New 3DS owners will also be able to show off their fandom with the launch of two new face plates, one based on the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon franchise and the other featuring the in-game sprites of the first generation of monsters from the first games.
All of the above will be released on February 27 in celebration of the 20 year anniversary of the franchises debut in Japan.
