At this point, Okami is an undisputed classic. Its original release on PS2 didn’t necessarily garner the highest sales, but it left an impact on the gaming community that continued on well into future console cycles. At this point, the game has been ported to just about every major platform since, including the recent release of Okami HD on Switch. Now, the game’s legacy is being carried on by another special release, an orchestrated soundtrack released as part of a quad vinyl set!
This is more than just a bare bones soundtrack set. In addition to the music, a 40 page art book is included alongside some beautifully designed packaging including boxes and slip-cases for the individual records. There are also going to be three versions available based on the design of the actual records, as well. Classic black vinyl is available for purists, while transparent, or “frosted,” white is also an option. The third choice will be a limited run that features the frosted white in addition to “Amaterasu” white and “Cherry Blossom” pink splatter patterns.
The set is currently available from Data Discs and, regardless of which version you choose, it will retail for £64.99 and is expected to ship sometime in October. Purchasing the records will also net you download codes for the soundtrack, including an option for lossless audio tracks for the audiophile on the go who doesn’t carry a record player wherever they go.
