Nintendo Download: 10.29.2015

Robots and cephalopods headline this week’s downloads.

Although Halloween is fast approaching, there’s nothing particularly scary about this week’s offerings on the Nintendo eShop. That being said, an octopus pretending to be your dad, a work colleague that’s really a machine, and a night in playing Pictionary all sound pretty scary to me. Thankfully, there is also an amazing retail demo available for 3DS owners that may help to take your mind off all that scary stuff. Read on!

Releases

Wii U eShop

  • Human Resource Machine – $9.99 – This delightful and intriguing puzzle game is from the developers that brought you the equally intriguing World of Goo. This time you are based in an office with a programmable robot at your disposal that you can delegate various tasks to given by your boss. Do well and you and your mechanical buddy get promoted. Make a mess of things and, just like in real life, you’ll be fired. But it’s okay, just try again– it’s only a game!
  • Octodad: Dadliest Catch – $14.99 – I managed to play the PS4 version of this a few months back and was pleasantly surprised. It’s one of the most original yet utterly strange titles that I have ever played, and its Wii U release is long overdue. If its previous console versions are anything to go by, this could be a real gem.
  • PictoParty – $7.99 – This is basically a version of the popular board game Pictionary, but this time using the Wii U GamePad for you to draw whilst your teammates struggle to guess your artful masterpiece as it’s revealed on the big screen.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town – $6.99

Wii U Retail Download

  • Barbie and her Sisters Puppy Rescue – $39.99

3DS Retail Download

  • Barbie and her Sisters Puppy Rescue – $29.99

3DS Retail Demo

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – Free – This is the demo that was previously distributed to a select few via email codes. Nintendo has thankfully given everyone a chance to get a slice of the action before that all-important purchase. The only stipulation is the demo will only be available to play on the following dates:

Oct. 30: 3-5 p.m. PT
Oct. 31: 3-5 p.m. PT
Nov. 1: 3-5 p.m. PT

Well, at least there is another Harvest Moon to add to the wishlist. I just recently downloaded the original SNES one, since way back when I passed on the game. Just trying it out now. The discounts on Resident Evil are good, I bought both versions of Revelations, that is a good price. One for the road and one for home. Plus, I read that on the Wii U it plays better than on the 360/PS3. Guess I’ll find out, but it does look good on both the 3DS and Wii U just based on the demos.
