Nintendo announced in its recent Nintendo Direct that several of its classic arcade games will soon be available on Switch through Hamster Corporation’s “Arcade Archives”.
Hamster Corporation has previously published arcade games through the “Arcade Archives” banner on Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Windows 10, but this will make the first time that Nintendo games will be released through it.
The following titles were all announced for Switch:
- Mario Bros.
- VS. Super Mario Bros.
- VS. Balloon Fight
- VS. Ice Climber
- VS. Pinball
- VS. Clu Clu Land
- Punch-Out!!
While Mario Bros. and Punch-Out!! are the arcade originals from the 1980s, the rest are all from the VS. System. This was a modular arcade system which featured upgrades or changes from the standard NES versions that you likely played. VS. Super Mario Bros, for example, includes some of the more difficult levels from Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and changes the positioning of a lot of the in-game power-ups and 1-up mushrooms.
The first title that you can get your hands on though is the original Mario Bros., which will be available on the Switch eShop from September 27.
