Nintendo will be shutting down Wii U’s Nintendo TVii feature, the company announced today via Miiverse. Both the service and its corresponding Miiverse community will be discontinued on August 11 at 3 PM Pacific Time.
Nintendo TVii attempted to integrate cable and Wii U’s various video services into one social application. Through Nintendo TVii, Wii U owners could find and keep track of their favorite television programming, as well as post Miiverse and Twitter comments about them using the console’s GamePad controller. You can read Nintendo’s complete statement regarding TVii’s shutdown below.

Never tried it as I was just interested in playing games. All these things being shut down is a little weird, and telling. I discovered yesterday that Nintendo video on the 3DS has been discontinued as well, though you can still watch the stuff they put on there through the eshop.
