Nintendo Wii had quite a few hidden games in its library, and among them was the 2009 title Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Vanillaware, famous for games like Dragon’s Crown, Odin Sphere, and many more, developed this 2D action RPG with a focus on hacking and slashing. Set in Japan’s Edo period, it stars Momohime and Kisuke, each with their own dedicated story to go through. Eventually, Muramasa was rereleased on PlayStation Vita in 2013 as Muramasa Rebirth. That version of the game had four self-contained DLC stories called Genroku Legends as well as a new localization and new music. Now, 13 years later, Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a third iteration of the game dubbed Muramasa: Revenant Blades. Take a look:
Revenant Blades brings players the original game plus all of the content from Rebirth. It also boasts English voice acting, new game modes, and yet another localization revamp. All of this is wrapped in a sparkling new 4K veneer, making this the crispest version of Muramasa to date. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a wee bit longer to play Revenant Blades, as the game isn’t slated for release until early 2027.
