If you’ve ever wished there was an easier way to show off your 3DS screenshots to friends, you’ll be happy to hear Nintendo has announced a special tool that will allow 3DS owners in Japan to quickly share their screenshots on other social media services.

According to Siliconera, the screenshot tool isn’t a dedicated app (like, say, the Data Transfer tool that was released alongside Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate), but rather a service that 3DS owners can access from a special web site. After visiting the site on the handheld’s Internet browser, users will be able to log into their Twitter or Tumblr accounts and quickly upload their screenshots to either service.

Curiously enough, the screenshot tool is only compatible with two titles at the moment, those being Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Tomodachi Collection: New Life. It’s unknown if future games will use the service, or if it will be updated to support older titles.

There’s also no word on whether the screenshot tool will be available to 3DS owners outside of Japan, but considering that other such apps (like the save transfer tool that allows 3DS owners to transfer their save files from physical games to digital ones) have made their way overseas, it seems like only a matter of time, especially as Animal Crossing: New Leaf will be hitting the console this June.

What do you think of the screenshot tool? Are you disappointed that it only supports two titles? Let us know in the comments!
