A notable reason for the successes of Fire Emblem: Awakening and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon aren’t from the fact that they both have a colon in them, but instead from the addition of digital sales.
When discussing this, Nintendo of America president (and human meme) Reggie Fils-Aime said that of the 15 games that are available on both digital and physical format, about 11 percent of their sales came from the digital downloads. Fils-Aime says that the aspect of digital downloads are becoming more and more important as time goes on.
The most notable of the titles is Fire Emblem: Awakening, which currently clocks in at 240,000 sales, including download sales. Of that number, about one-third of those sales were from the digital downloads. While there is no definitive number of digital downloads, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon has been currently clocked in with 415,000 in sales.
