Today is the day that we see the beginning of the end for the Nintendo Wii.
As previously mentioned by everywhere, come the end of today, the servers for Monster Hunter Tri will be officially shut down. The Wii, which has been much maligned in the terms of online play, had a rare exception with Monster Hunter Tri. This game had a very functional and popular online play component that has proven to still be good to this day. However, with the changing of the guard from Wii to Wii U, the time has come for the servers to finally shut down for good.
While most people have already hopped over to the Wii U, there are still those who have yet to get the latest console and probably are a lot more upset about this. This is only the beginning for the Wii, which is in the process of shutting down everything Wi-Fi. But here’s to Monster Hunter Tri, one of the few bright spots of a very frustrating component.
