Super Mario Maker has undoubtedly been one of Nintendo’s biggest successes this year, and it will likely continue to be successful thanks to Nintendo’s dedication to keeping the game fresh with new content. The next free update will bring some new special events along with some familiar looking costumes.
The first new addition is already available and it’s a series of levels inspired by the NES Remix series known for mashing up classic 8-bit Nintendo titles. Those who complete the levels will unlock a costume resembling the Frog Suit made famous in Super Mario Bros. 3.
The next event will launch on December 3 and celebrates the upcoming Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam for 3DS. This event will feature stages created by the team behind the 3DS RPG and feature unlockable costumes of the unique Mario and Luigi sprites from that series along with Mario’s super thin look from the Paper Mario games.
Not only is it great to see Nintendo’s continued dedication to supporting its games post launch, but it’s also interesting to see where the company will go with future tie-ins to upcoming releases. I’m hoping for a collection of Star Fox costumes in the near future.
