Retro-styled Metroidvania games from independent developers aren’t exactly uncommon nowadays, but there’s probably a good reason for that: many of them are genuinely excellent and gamers seem to really enjoy them. Well, another such game has popped up on Kickstarter and with a few days left, it reached its goal.
MindSeize is being developed by Kamina Dimension, an independent studio from Finland, and it promises to be a sci-fi, story-driven take on the Metroidvania genre. In it, you play the role of M.C. Fox, an investigator looking into an apparently evil cult that left him paralyzed and has been stealing people’s minds, including that of his own daughter. Looking to stop the cult, Fox has his mind planted into a heavily armed robot so he can track the cult across four planets and save the minds of so many innocent people. Being a Metroidvania, expect plenty of upgrades along the way.
The developers were looking for $19,000 for this project, and at the time of this writing their total stands at just under $21,000 with less than 3 days to go. For those who want the game on Switch, $23 will get you a digital copy while $49 will upgrade you to a physical copy in addition to a few other perks. So, what do you think, are you excited to see another Metroidvania reach the eShop?
