During last week’s Nintendo Direct, the company confirmed that Metroid Prime: Federation Force is headed to Nintendo 3DS in the very near future. As a result, new information has started to come out regarding the title.
Interestingly, Federation Force will feature camera support for both the New 3DS’s C-Stick, as well as the Circle Pad Pro. The Circle Pad Pro peripheral hasn’t exactly seen an abundance of support since its release back in 2011, so it is surprising to see the title will support it. For those that haven’t yet adopted the most recent version of the 3DS hardware, it’s certainly a nice option.

While the game will offer a solo campaign, the focus seems to be on the multiplayer aspect, similar to last year’s The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. During last week’s Direct broadcast, Nintendo showed footage confirming that Samus Aran will apparently play a role in the game’s storyline, though not as a playable character. The title will instead focus on a group of soldiers working for the Galactic Federation. This has led to a bit of controversy, particularly in light of the fact that this is the first new Metroid title since the 2010 release of Metroid: Other M.
Metroid Prime: Federation Force is scheduled for release in late spring. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information in the coming months!
