We’ve known that most of Mega Man’s retro adventures (and their more modern sequels) would be coming to Switch for a while now, but it looks like a lot more Blue Bomber is on the way. Capcom has announced that the Mega Man X series will be getting a similar treatment to the main series with a pair of Legacy Collections featuring all eight games as well as a host of extras.
Legacy Collection 1 will feature Mega Man X through X 4 while Collection 2 has Mega Man X 5 through X 8. All the games will be playable with their original presentations, though you can choose to take advantage of widescreen versions along with some other modern features for cleaner visuals. Also, the later games, which featured 3D models, have been cleaned up as well. Each collection also includes their games’ respective soundtracks alongside several new tracks as well. In terms of new gameplay, the collections will include a new mode that faces players off against combinations of the games’ bosses.
These games will also celebrate the series’ history with a digital museum worth of content ranging from trailers, to art, to various Mega Man merchandise from over the years. The biggest inclusion is The Day of Σ video which serves as a prequel to the original game.
Both games are scheduled for release on July 22 and will be available individually for $19.99 via download each or as a bundle for $39.99. Take note, though: the retail version of the bundle for Switch will come with the cartridge for Collection 1 and a download code for Collection 2, similar to other recent Capcom collections.
