Disney has officially unveiled the newest play set for Disney Infinity 3.0, the Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set.
Disney Infinity 3.0 had a Star Wars theme when it launched in August 2015, and this new play set brings a number of levels set in the Marvel world to the game. It features four-player combat in 12 levels across eight arenas, new customization options, and is compatible with all Super Hero and Villain figures previously released for Disney Infinity 2.0.
In a statement on the Disney Interactive blog, John Vignocchi, VP of Disney Infinity, announced that in a departure from previous sets, this will include one new character with it (Captain America) rather than two. According to Vignocchi, this is to give players more choice on how to expand their collections:
“Now it’s up to you to decide which other Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains you want to fight with in Marvel Battlegrounds from a selection of 25 characters and with more to join the roster soon!”
For those unfamiliar with the game, Disney Infinity allows players to bring physical figurines into the game and features a number of worlds from different Disney franchises.
A number of play sets from different franchises were leaked yesterday, including Spider-Man, The Jungle Book, and Zootopia, but this is the only set to have be confirmed by Disney.
The Marvel Battlegrounds Play Set is set for release on March 15, and anyone who pre-orders the set from participating retailers before March 14 will receive a free Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes figure to help bolster their collection.
