For those of you who weren’t put off by the disappointing Mario Party 9 (or at least have enough faith in the series that you hope it can rebound), it looks as though the second dual screen foray for the Mario Party series may not actually be that bad, especially when you factor in the StreetPass possibilities.
A few new details have emerged about the upcoming Mario Party: Island Tour. With the 3DS’s StreetPass function, there will now be an option to play against ghost data from players that you happen to encounter via StreetPass. There’s also a minigame tower that you can compete in, as well as a bunch of unlockables like music tracks and character illustrations. It looks as if the series will be going back to its roots with this installment, but it is still missing the one thing that could bring it over the top– online multiplayer. Regardless, it still may be something worth checking out thanks to these new features and the single-card multiplayer, which supports up to three other players with one game card.
Mario Party: Island Tour hits stores in North America on November 22. It will make its way to Europe sometime in 2014.
