The final content drop comes in October!

Mario Kart Tour, the live service mobile iteration of the venerable kart racing franchise, seems to be getting sunsetted by Nintendo. Launching back in 2019 for iOS and Android, the game has been steadily providing a number of updates for four years now. These include new track, characters, and vehicles, all disseminated via the game’s initial gachapon-style rewards system, then via an in-game shop. Now, it seems Nintendo is winding down support for Mario Kart Tour, declaring that no new content will be added following the Battle Tour in October.

As the message, which was shown off in-game, points out, no new content will appear in the game as of 10.04.23. The game will remain playable, but will pivot to cycling through previously released content instead of offering anything new. As has been speculated by many, this writer will concur and offer that the end of new content for Mario Kart Tour might be directly related to Nintendo amping up work on Mario Kart 9 (or whatever the next series installment ends up getting titled). What say you, readers? What do you think of Mario Kart Tour ceasing to offer new DLC? Do you still play it? Sound off in the comments!
