Last year, developer Level-5 announced it would be carrying on its acclaimed Professor Layton franchise with a twist: the puzzle-solving titular detective would step aside as protagonist so his daughter, Katrielle, could take center stage. Now, Level-5 has announced the title has officially been changed to Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy and detailed when you’ll get the opportunity to play it.
The game will initially be available on July 20; however, gamers outside of Japan hoping to play it on 3DS will have to wait longer. The initial release date will include the Japanese 3DS version as well as worldwide launches for iOS and Android. Layton’s Mystery Journey for 3DS will launch in other markets this fall.
Level-5 also stated the new game will feature “a combination of smaller conundrums and puzzles that need to be solved in order to complete the overall mystery.” This seems to suggest that the regular puzzle-solving gameplay the series is famous for has been tweaked to better fit the mobile version. Hopefully these changes will still satisfy the franchise’s legion of loyal fans.
