Kirby Has Turned 30, Nintendo Celebrates

Three decades of everyone’s favorite pink pugilist!

Kirby is 30. Somehow, three decades have passed since the launch of Kirby’s Dream Land on Game Boy. In honor of the pink puffball’s birthday, Nintendo has been celebrating.

It doesn’t stop there. Players of Kirby and the Forgotten Land can enter a special code into the game in order to unlock a food item and a Rare Stone:

Although he hasn’t been involved with the series in some time, Kirby’s creator Masahiro Sakurai also chimed in to celebrate:

Kirby has gone from black and white pixels on the diminutive screen of a Game Boy to one of the biggest franchises in Nintendo’s large catalogue of properties. Which of his adventures are your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
