For more than two decades, Sonic the Hedgehog had plenty of adventures outside the realm of games thanks to a popular series of comics published by Archie Comics. However, fans of the franchise were recently shocked to discover that Sonic was switching publishers to IDW. Now, we know when we can expect these new books to start hitting the market.
At New York Comic-Con, Sega revealed IDW’s take on Sonic will kick off in April 2018. Ian Flynn, who worked on the original run with Archie Comics, will write this new series as well. And to kick things off, a new issue will be released every week that month. Nothing has been said about who will be drawing the new comics, but Tyson Hesse, the artist behind Sonic Mania’s opening, prepared the first promo image released alongside these announcements.
The coming months will undoubtedly be big for Sega’s blue blur. Not only is there this new comic launching soon, but Sonic Forces launches for Switch next month on November 7. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more on Sonic’s continuing adventures!
