DrinkBox Studios announced today that it will be bringing Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition to Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Set in and around a small village in Mexico, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is an action-packed, 2D brawler/platformer that alternates between the worlds of the living and the dead. Inspired by Mexican folklore, players take control of a down-on-his luck wrestler named Juan Aguacate, as he fights through hordes of undead enemies and skeleton henchmen to stop the evil Carlos Calaca from gaining ultimate power by sacrificing the beautiful “El Presidente’s Daughter.”
The original version of the game was released on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita last year, and was later ported to PC, Mac, and Linux. It was also nominated for the 2013 Independent Games Festival for Excellence in Visual Art.
This “Super Turbo Championship Edition” promises a whole sleuth of new features, such as an expanded story (including DLC content from the original), a new boss, new abilities, new enemies, support for multiple save slots, and a dual currency system which supports permanent item unlocks.
No release date was announced, but the trailer accompanying the announcement says that it will be available to download soon.

I’m super excited about this. For a game so inspired by Metroid, it’s fitting to play it on a Nintendo console.
I’m super thrilled to see this hitting a Nintendo console. Seriously worth everyone’s time.
