Bandai has been releasing Pokémon Mega Bloks sets in Japan since last year, but North America will finally be seeing some, too, with the release of Pokémon Mega Construx this summer. Mattel recently rebranded its block construction toys and separated them into two different lines: the Bloks line is aimed at younger children, while the Construx sets are meant for the preteen to adult collector. The upcoming Pokémon Mega Construx will feature Pikachu, Charizard, and other figures of Pokémon from the Kanto Region.
Colin Palmer, VP of marketing at The Pokémon Company International, said the following about the new Construx sets via press release:
“Mega Construx brings the engaging world of Pokémon to life in one of the most popular play expressions for kids today. We bring only the highest quality Pokémon experiences to our fans around the world and Mega Brands’ attention to detail and thoughtful creativity with Mega Construx is sure to delight kids as well as the most passionate Pokémon trainers.”
The sets will be on display at Toy Fair 2017 in New York this weekend! Which Pokémon would you like to see in these sets? Will you be getting any when they launch this summer? Leave a comment below!

Aww man, that had me all worked up. Those are clearly lego.
These were construx:

I suppose lego are better suited to solid forms anyway; construx were about halfway between that and the metal, sparse-structure erector sets of old. Ok, shutting up before I sound any more ancient.
