Borderlands might have just bombed at the box office, but that doesn’t mean the IP lacks a future in the world of video games. Head of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford has recently been teasing that the next Borderlands game was in development, and during Gamescom Opening Night he officially teased Borderlands 4 for a 2025 release date. What is unknown is whether or not Borderlands 4 will come to Nintendo Switch. At this point, all of the mainline games are on the platform, but given this is being touted for next-gen systems, Switch might not have the horsepower to run it. However, we were reliably assured by Nintendo back in May that words on Switch’s successor will be coming this fiscal year, so it’s possible that if Borderlands 4 comes to anything, it will be that particular console.
