As the October release date for Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 3DS inches ever closer, Masahiro Sakurai continues to reveal more details. The latest is a brand-new stage, based on the original Game Boy! We’ve mirrored the image below, for your viewing pleasure!
Nintendo announced months ago that each version of Super Smash Bros. would feature levels based on either handheld titles or console titles. The Game Boy title screen is an interesting pick, and it will certainly appeal to fans of the original handheld and its olive green-colored screen. Of course, like all of Sakurai’s hints, it leaves plenty of questions. For starters, if that’s the Game Boy start-up screen, will we see a game boot up? It would certainly be a great throwback to see some of the handheld’s most popular titles appear as play progresses. Even more interesting, however, is the way that Kirby and King Dedede look in the image. It would seem to indicate that characters take on a more monochromatic appearance when they appear in the level. It’s a minor detail, but it shows the kind of thought that’s going into both of these games.
Are you looking forward to playing this stage when Super Smash Bros. debuts on Nintendo 3DS this October? As always, let us know what you think in the comments below!

I’m very interested to see the first title in the series on a handheld. So much of the fun has been playing with friends in the same room that I’m hoping online play will still capture some of it.
