Some fans were disappointed with the update as many players have been hoping for a Mario Kart 9 announcement or an update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Mario Kart 8 started as a Wii U game released in 2014 and was then ported as a Switch title in 2017. It remains as the highest selling Switch game in its four years on the console.
