Update: The game has been confirmed for western release, and will arrive worldwide on January 31!
This week’s edition of Famitsu has revealed that Fishing Star: World Tour will be coming to Switch in Japan later this month.
The game is based on the original smartphone title by GREE and features more than 180 types of fish to catch, 70 different fishing tools and apparently “vastly revamped systems”. Interestingly, the game is also compatible with Nintendo’s Labo fishing rod.
A listing on the Japanese eShop has since confirmed the news, and you can find a trailer for the game below:
Fishing Star: World Tour will be available on the Japanese eShop from January 31 for 2,680 yen. While the game hasn’t been announced for the West, it can be downloaded by setting up a Japanese eShop account (English is a supported language thankfully).
Fishing fans who can’t wait that long could always consider Bass Pro Shops: The Strike – Championship Edition on Switch — full disclosure though, Robert found it hard to recommend to anyone but the most hardcore of anglers in his recent review.
