The recent Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct revealed a metric ton of details about the forthcoming game, details that fans have been itching to learn since the game was announced back in September of 2025. First, if you prefer the video version, here’s the Direct for your viewing pleasure:
Now, let’s get into the nitty gritty of what was revealed (with a hand from Nintendo’s press release):
- Gods and Heroes – Five years after the Heroic Games, the Dagdan Empire faces its end at the hands of the revived demon god, Balor. Four Heroes who played a significant role in the Heroic Games have vanished. To confront the situation, the progenitor god Sothis charges one soul with saving the world from its end. That soul is you.
- Four Heroes – Return to the Heroic Games and choose one of the four Heroes to play as. Each Hero reveals a new narrative (you can even play their stories in parallel with one another):
- Cai – From the peaceful village of Ribeira, Cai sets out with his childhood friends to win the Heroic Games and save his imprisoned father.
- Dietrich – Washing ashore after an attack from an enormous monster, Dietrich decides to slake his thirst for battle by competing in the Heroic Games with new allies at his side.
- Theodora – Hailing from the kingdom of Saramis, Theodora leads her veteran retainers into battle to restore the honor of her goddess – the loathed Keeper of Death and Night – and defend the peace of her kingdom.
- Leda – Born into prestige and blessed with musical talent, Leda gives up everything to seek revenge against her father’s murderer. With companions in tow, she enters the Heroic Games after learning that the killer will be fighting as well …
- The Heroic Games – The Heroic Games are a series of matches held in tribute to Dagda, the Empire’s first and founding king. Solel, the current ruler of the Dagdan Empire, will grant one wish to the ultimate winner. Achieving victory is no easy task, so preparation is key.

- Prepare for Battle – Explore Dagsion between matches:
- Arena – Train here to improve your skills, learn new moves, and wield better weapons.
- Shopping Arcade – Purchase new weapons and tools or enhance weapons.
- Temple Row – Earn blessings to use in battle and get an edge.
- Certification Exams – Obtain a new class for one of your units.
- Quests – Unlock in-game rewards by helping folks out.
- Recruit – Add powerful new allies to your ranks.
- Inns – Recover, grow, and build relationships.
- Beyond Dagsion – Time passes as you explore the game world. While you’re out and about:
- World Map – Visit towns, gather information, gain experience, explore dungeons.
- Dungeon Delving – Collect materials and find treasures. Fights in dungeons will trigger turn-based battles that differ from normal ones.
- Classes – There are three:
- Beginner – There are five Beginner Classes; gladiators, diviners, ornius riders and more.
- Specialty – There are over 10 Specialty Classes; armored knights, wing soldiers, charioteers, and more.
- Advanced – These classes are masters of their skills; cataphracts, guardians, elephant riders, and more.
- Combat and Blaze Arts – Combat Arts are attacks that deplete weapon durability. They have greater power, longer range, and other effects and should be used strategically. Blaze Arts are special moves that deplete a Hero’s health points. Like Combat Arts, these should be used with a lot of thought given the cost.
- Fortuna’s Blessing – Let’s you go back to any point in battle and redo things as needed.
And that’s a wrap. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches September 17, 2026. Did this get you (ahem) fired up for the game? Share with us online and on social media!
