It’s time for another Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack update. In this case, Nintendo is turning to the 2001 Game Boy Advance classic F-Zero Maximum Velocity to spice things up. It will be hitting the service tomorrow, March 29, 2024. You can check out the game in this trailer:
Lest ye make the mistake this writer did of thinking that Maximum Velocity is merely a port of F-Zero on SNES, here’s the full rundown of what this game is about:
There’s only one sport that has enough thrills, spills and potential for calamity to keep an entire galaxy on the edge of its seat, and it’s known as the F-Zero Grand Prix. F-Zero Maximum Velocity is set 25 years after the original F-Zero game, with a new generation of racers piloting their plasma-powered machines and using speed bursts (and some strategic vehicle-to-vehicle bumping) in a white-knuckle race to stay ahead of the competition … and stay alive.
If there’s any disappointment to be had, it might be that there’s no Captain Falcon to look forward to in this one. Still, if blistering speed is your thing, it doesn’t get much better than Maximum Velocity. As ever, in order to enjoy any of the GBA titles on Switch, users must have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Let us know if you’ll be playing this one down in the comments!
