Believe it or not, the Mario and Sonic at the 20XX Olympics franchise has never been focused on delivering completely realistic depictions of those popular sporting events. After all, while the Olympics feature plenty of Italians, you don’t find too many Hedgehogs. However, one popular feature has been the Dream Events, special versions of sports that deviate even further from reality, and they will be making a return in the upcoming Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
This time around, the Dream sports will be Racing, Shooting, and Karate. Dream Shooting has you shooting targets in a classical, Japanese style castle, Racing features hoverboard racing that very much has a Sonic vibe thanks to the grind rails, and Karate actually seems to be more focused on changing panels on the ground into your color by smashing your foes into them.
