Dr Mario World was released just a few days ago on July 9 and has already been topping the charts in the US.
According to App Annie, the match-three puzzle game was the No.1 game in the US iOS charts by 11am on launch day, which puts it ahead of Niantic’s recent Harry Potter: Wizards Unite – it only managed this at 12am on the day after release. Apparently this still trailed behind K-pop band BTS’s app BTS World though, which reached No.1 four hours faster than Dr Mario World.
Elsewhere, the title has only managed to get to No.9 in the UK iOS charts, but it was the No.1 rated puzzle game in that region (although that’s hardly surprising really).
The game itself is free to download and, like similar mobile games, offers in-game purchases. As such, it’s unlikely that we’ll get a true idea of how well it performs for some time.
Dr Mario World is available now to download on iOS and Android devices.
