The delightful Rare handheld take on its own Donkey Kong Country series remain an impressive feat to this day, distilling the essence of the technologically beefier SNES games onto the diminutive Game Boy with deceptive ease. Alas, while Donkey Kong Land III is fantastic, its Japanese counterpart is a fascinating curiosity in that it was released as a Game Boy Color title. If you have an OG Game Boy or Game Boy Advance laying around, you can actually play the Japanese version of Donkey Kong Land III without any impediments, which this writer highly encourages.
