YouTuber and Twitch streamer Hbomberguy exists at the interesting crossroads of progressive politics and video games and his most recent effort is a livestream marathon of notorious collect-a-thon Donkey Kong 64. The stream isn’t just an example of masochism; money raised through the stream will go to a UK charity called Mermaids, which provides support to transgender youth.
About 50 hours into the stream, there was an unexpected call-in from recently elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. While her unapologetically progressive platforms have generated plenty of support and disdain, she used the stream as an opportunity to make a highly controversial statement- the N64 is the best console of all time. She does go on to admit she’s never been much of a gamer, but check out the video below for her rationalization.

It’s hard to tell what the fallout of these claims will be, but I foresee conservatives unifying behind the PS1 to better differentiate their dueling political platforms. Regardless, the stream managed to raise $250,000.
