We’re not far away now from the April 5 release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Despite the film not having been released yet, there are undoubtedly many fans who are chomping at the bit wondering exactly what the next film in the series (if it warrants a sequel, naturally) might be about. Well, actor Chris Pratt, who stars as the titular plumber, spoke in an interview recently about the film and, well, some spoilers and potential spoilers await! Don’t way we didn’t warn ye:
Speaking with CBR, Pratt revealed that the film does indeed have a post-credits scene. He also said that the scene could very well be setting up what fans can hope to see from a second film:
Listen, there’s like, at the end of the film, there’s a post-credit sequence that gives you a taste of what the sequel could be about. And that gets me very, very excited. But there’s been talk of Luigi’s Mansion. That was a Gamecube game. I think that would be great.
Despite not being a series known for rich narratives, there’s a lot of story potential to be found within the Super Mario video game franchise. Luigi’s Mansion would be awesome, but with characters like Wario and Waluigi waiting in the wings, there are any number of directions a sequel could go.
Are there any plot lines you’d like to see a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie tackle? One of the Mario & Luigi games, perhaps? Tell us down in the comments!
