All good things, as they say, must come to an end. With the launch of the NX looming on the horizon, it’s only natural to see Nintendo slowly discontinuing features for certain Wii U titles, and that would inevitably include Splatoon. Since the game’s launch last May, the company has regularly held Splatfest competitions, in which players align with one of two opposing sides and compete in Turf Wars for the most points. Unfortunately, while these events have become a regular fixture for Splatoon players to look forward to, Nintendo has just announced the final Splatfest, though it will end in an appropriately epic fashion.
This time around, players are asked to side with one of the game’s icon Squid Sisters: Callie or Marie. The final Splatfest will begin on Friday, July 22, at 2 AM Pacific Time and will run through Sunday, July 24. Players in both North America and Europe will be competing against one another in the ultimate showdown. Unlike other Splatfests, the stages for this particular event will also be determined by the players. Nintendo will be distributing emails to those with Nintendo Network IDs to vote on which stages will be featured during the final Splatfest.
Will you be taking part in the final Splatfest? Which side are you on? Let us know in the comments!

Team Marie all the way!
So what are the chances we have a Splatoon sequel at the NX launch? Dev time on Splatoon was relatively fast. I’m assuming an eventual sequel is pretty much inevitable due to the worldwide success of the game.
Marie!!!
