This year marks the 30th anniversary of one of the most influential video games of all time, The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo is marking the occasion with a number of releases throughout 2016, but only ten fans will have a chance at grabbing a highly exclusive item being made to commemorate the anniversary.
A company called Analogue is releasing a 24-karat gold-plated NES console, bundled with the original Legend of Zelda (with the gold-colored cartridge, naturally). The base of the system is translucent, allowing fans to get a glimpse at the circuit board. Of course, most fans will have to settle for pictures of the console, either way. The gold-plated NES will set Zelda fans back a pretty penny at $5000. That’s an awful lot of rupees!
There’s still no word on whether or not owners of the console will have to blow on the cartridge to get it to work, as of this writing. Stay tuned to Ninendojo for more information on the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda throughout 2016!
